FEATURES

User Profile -
The differences between Internet and intranet portals persist when it comes to dealing with users. For example, Internet portals rarely deliver much targeted information, even on their my pages. This is predictable for two reasons. First, a website doesn’t know much about its users, and for reasons of privacy and laziness, people are reluctant to spend much time customizing their views. Second, a general website must offer generic services that will appeal to many users.
By contrast, intranet portals already know a lot about their users, even if users don’t perform any additional customization.

Search -
No matter how well things are organized, sometimes a key word search is the fastest way to find something. An Intranet Search Engine is a text field where you type in a key work and click "search." The intranet will be scanned and a list of matching results will appear within a couple of seconds.
The search function should be easily accessible, ideally available from every page on the intranet. A search field and button take up less space. So, non-obtrusive yet convenient placement is a cinch.

Advance Search
A more advance option for search pin-pointing at almost exact location of the searching criteria.

Document sharing and library
Allows you to store, add, update and delete documents. A centralized listing of common documents with a search, eliminate document distribution. Have a consistent look and feel to all the documents (fax cover sheets, Directions, Product/Service literature, Power Point presentations etc). Just go to the Online Document Library and download or print out the latest copy.

Group scheduler and calendar
True groupware application allows you to schedule yourself and others for meeting, phone calls etc. Easily coordinate the schedules of different people for meetings and appointments.

Private and company threaded discussion boards
Allows you to create bulletin boards on the application or through the calendar in order to communicate and share documents on any topic.

Company and departmental announcements
Announce the latest Company and Department announcements such as Earning reports, Company Functions or New appointment.

Group address book
Keep track of individuals' names and addresses, DOB, and search for them in any way you like. This is a common address book for everyone and also can be classified. It is an ideal place to keep company contacts, their addresses and notes about the contact so everyone can see what happened.

Employee directory
Listing of employees, their location, phone numbers, Email addresses and other pertinent information (like optional photographs). Search for them in any way you like. Do you need someone's Email address? Only know someone by their first name? Look it up and replace that paper directory.

Bulletin Board
If everyone in the customer service area is having a problem, or someone has the newest technique to solve a problem, it can all be posted on the bulletin board. Problems and solutions are posted and categorized for everyone to see all the time."

Company Links
List of links to the Internet (or on your Intranet) that everybody should see. This feature is ideal for those who wish to make links for everyone to access.

Customizable Interface
Another common feature of many intranet systems is that the interface is customizable. This often means that colors can be modified, a logo can be uploaded and the company name can be displayed. It may seem like a minor feature, but it's actually an important branding tool. It's the difference between handing out plain white T-shirts to employees and handing out t-shirts emblazoned with a bright company logo.

Individualization
Intranets should ideally conform to the individual user. The idea is that intranets should be comfortable and convenient for a variety of employees with a varying range of responsibilities. Our company intranet includes a couple of slick features that achieve this end.

Controlled access
Intranets should be password protected. Human resource records, corporate communications and other proprietary information should be carefully guarded from intruders. Strict security policies should be set bearing in mind that former or current employees are potential trespassers.

Auto Notification
The Auto Notification System allows Intranet members to know when new items have been added to the Intranet through E-mail.  Notifications can be set up to be automatically sent when items are created, modified, moved or routed.

Online Help
The Intranet offers a complete Online Help Guide, which System Members can easily access, simply click on the Help link.

Company Memos
The built in Memo Manager allows your company to set reoccurring email memos that will be delivered at a set time and date.  These memos can also include URL links pointing to important sections and application within the Intranet.  This application increases the overall usage of the product.

Opinion Polls
Create an Opinion Poll Portlet as part of a Portal page.

Item History Tracking
Item history provides a complete report based on the life cycle of an item.  Every time and item is moved or modified the change is listed in the item history.

Announcements
One of the main reasons companies start an Intranet is to streamline company communications and announcements. Announcements are posted directly on the dashboard so users can see them each time they login to the Intranet Suite.
